USR Drilling is the oil and gas industry’s sole and exclusive provider of Ultra Short Radius Drilling (USRD) and Completion Technologies. Management, Engineering and Drilling personnel possess, on average, more than 25 years of experience with USRD, beginning in the late 1980s with early development and testing of the initial prototype tools.

Our expertise is the re-entry of existing wellbores to exploit bypassed reserves in mature fields. Our proprietary well-intervention technologies were specifically designed to exploit remaining reserves, increase production from marginal wells and restore production from shut-in wells.

We are the only directional drilling company that specializes in the planning, drilling and completion of Ultra Short Radius (USR) and Short Radius (SR) wells. Our focus is on the market segment requiring a very tight radius of curvature (27-60 feet) and a slim hole (3 7/8 to 4 1/2 inches).

Licensing

USR grants qualified companies exclusive territorial licenses to utilize our proprietary technology, equipment and support from USR’s directional drillers and engineers. Licensing provides access to the equipment, technical expertise and training needed to plan, drill and complete USR wells.

Recent Projects

  • 2019 - 2020

    Currently operating 4 rigs in PetroChina’s Daqing Field. As of November 2020, more than 70 wells have been drilled since June 2019. Expanding to 8 rigs before end of 2020.

  • 2016 - 2019

    • Completed 8 wells in Illinois and Texas for PETCO Petroleum, Carbon Field Energy and Winchester Energy.
    • Developed more robust USR Motors and Steering Tools.

  • 2014 - 2015

    Entered into a Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) with Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprises to provide USR Services. Seven wells were completed.

  • 2013 - 2016

    Completed 20th well in Gabon and 8th well in Pakistan.
